News from the laboratory committee, February 2025

We are near the completion of our new laboratories at Katrinebjerg. It has been a lengthy process, primarily due to long waiting times for craftsmen, utility companies, and increased requirements for safety and ventilation in connection with the renovation of the IT-Minds building (building 5367). But now we can finally say welcome to the following new laboratories:

5360:212 (temporary until February '26)

  • LAMPS will move one floor up in building 5360 and into room 217 in February 2025.
  • Tribology Lab: The 3D scanner is moved to the SEM room and the Gamry potentiostat will be operational next to the scratch tester.
  • Composite lab: Is shut down at Navitas on 20 January 2025. Essential equipment is stored in Deep Tech Experimental Hub in Skejby.
  • Material Lab: Establishment of 5-6 new 16 amp power outlets.
  • Fluid Lab: Setting up a wall that divides the room, so the wind tunnel is in a noise-dampened room separately and the rest of the test setups in the remaining room.

 

Printer news 

From 17 February 2025, several of the special printers with a focus on research will be located in the new "Center for Additive Manufacturing", which is part of the Production Lab.

XLAB: The shelves have been adapted, and it makes better use of the space, and it has made room for more printers. The capacity has been increased with 10 Bambulab P1S printers with AMS, two Prusa XL and an additional 5 AMSs for the printers that lacked them.

News from Deep Tech Experimental Hub in Skejby

  • Pyrolysis for BCE is almost fully established.
  • BCE's large water basin has moved in and is in operation.
  • The drone cage will move to the Shannon building at Katrinebjerg, expected in 2025.
  • The wind tunnel from Navitas (the big green one) has moved in. It is expected to be in operation in February 2025, after completion of the renovation of the electric motor, control, etc.
