Travelling and climate policy

Changing our travel habits is a crucial step towards achieving Aarhus University's goal of reducing its CO2 emissions.

Overall, the revised travel policy contains an explicit invitation to look at one's own travel habits and reconsider the form of travel by, among other things:

  • choose the most climate-friendly mode of travel as possible.
  • challenge the need of physical meetings in existing, well-established networks.
  • consider whether the trip can be replaced by virtual meetings – or planned closer to the employee's geographical location.
  • take trains rather than planes if the journey time by train is less than 5 hours per way.

Of course, considerations about the form of travel are also based on the fact that it can be practical and time-wise coherent for the individual.
