Security Week: Webinars, films and events about cybersecurity throughout week 44

Watch a documentary on the cyberattack at Aalborg University, and see how the deputy director of AU IT fends off hackers in a mock security breach live on stage. These are just two of the events that will take place when AU holds Security Week in week 44. See the full programme here.

October is international cybersecurity awareness month. At AU, this will be marked with Security Week. AU’s Information Security department is inviting students and staff to an exciting and educational array of events about cybersecurity throughout week 44.

The events have been developed with colleagues from Aalborg University, which means you can join the premiere of the new documentary film Den dag det gik galt (The day it went wrong), which tells the story of a destructive cyberattack at AAU and follows five people as they worked to resolve a crisis that brought systems and processes to a standstill.

You can also watch how deputy director of AU IT, Peter Bruun Nielsen, handles a mock cyberattack live on stage in the Main Hall, and meet the student association 0-Days Aarhus, who will be explaining how they explore cybersecurity through gamified hacking challenges.

Technology and behaviour go hand in hand

The webinars, films and events aim to both inspire and provide practical advice to students and staff on how they can contribute to a high level of security at AU.

Staying secure online isn’t just about technology. Every day, we make decisions that affect cybersecurity. We handle information, open emails, follow links and grant access to systems and buildings. The fact that universities are a target for cybercriminals was underscored last week when DTU announced that hackers had gained access to the university’s systems and stolen information relating to up to 200,000 current and former users.

That’s why Security Week is keen to highlight that the vigilance and behaviour of every single person at the university plays a vital part in protecting our data, research and work processes.

You’re welcome to join as many events as you like during the week. You don’t need previous experience, just a little curiosity.

The webinars will be held in Danish but will have live English subtitles. They documentary will also have English subtitles. The mock live cyberattack event will be held in Danish.
