News from the Research Committee
Charles Møller, Deputy Head of Department for Research, would like to provide an update on the strategic action plan developed on the basis of the external research evaluation from 2025.
An important recommendation from the evaluation was to initiate a process in which the department’s researchers collaborate in clusters around interdisciplinary research areas. This process will begin at the staff seminar in August, where the groups will be formed and the work can commence.
Another central recommendation concerned the need for a shared understanding of both research quality and the criteria for recruitment and promotion. To address this, a working group at Tech is currently revising the tenure‑track process, including the ABC criteria for promotion, with the aim of ensuring a common understanding. The recommendations will be submitted to the Tech faculty management in the autumn. The new coaching programme will likewise help ensure that both early‑career researchers and senior researchers develop a more consistent understanding of requirements and expectations.
It was also recommended to strengthen administrative research support, a task to be taken forward by the research coordinator. Among the concrete initiatives in this area is the forthcoming launch of new research pages on the staff portal, offering improved administrative support for research applications.
Finally, it should be noted that the relatively recently introduced annum is also a result of the recommendations from the research evaluation.
Charles will continue to update MPE staff as further initiatives from the research evaluation are implemented.
